Car Parks and Parking (Amendment) By-law

 

TAKE NOTICE that the Hobart City Council has resolved its intention to make a by-law to be known as the Car Parks and Parking Amendment By-law, No. 1 of 2012.

The objective of the By-law is to amend the Car Parks & Parking By-Law, No. 2 of 2008. 

The By-law addresses the following areas:

1. Amending some definitions in the interests of clarity;

2. Amending penalties for offences against the by-law in order to harmonise them with similar offences in the Local Government (Highways) Act, 1982; and

3. Providing for different penalty structures to allow penalty discounts for payment within specified periods of time.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that copies of the by-law can be inspected at the Council's Customer Service Centre, 16 Elizabeth Street, Hobart between the hours of 8.30am and 5.15pm, Monday to Friday until Monday 3 July 2012. Copies of the by-law may be purchased from the Customer Services Centre for the sum of $1.10 each.

The Council invites submissions in respect of the proposed by-law and submissions can be made in writing addressed to, and lodged with, the General Manager stating the grounds of the submission and the facts relied upon in support of those grounds.

Submissions regarding Car Parks and Parking (Amendment) By-law must be lodged before 5.15pm on Monday 3 July 2012.
