Location and Hours
Salamanca Market is located between Salamanca Lawns and the historic warehouses of Salamanca Place close to Hobart's picturesque waterfront, a five-minute walk from the city centre. The market operates all year long every Saturday from 8.30 am to 3.00 pm.
The market is open every Saturday unless there is extreme weather, or the market falls on Christmas day or Anzac day. To stay up-to-date with all the latest news and activities, visit the Salamanca Market Facebook page.
The location of the market is what makes it an incredibly special place to visit. Salamanca Place is steeped in history, with its beautiful 1830s Georgian sandstone warehouses originally built to store cargo from trading ships, now transformed into cafes, restaurants, art galleries and boutique retailers.
The Hobart waterfront is just a short stroll across the lawns from the market, where you can find fishing boats, yachts and the occasional historic sailing ship.
Salamanca Market is close to St Davids Park on the fringe of Hobart's city centre. From the market, it's a short climb up Kellys Steps to reach the Georgian cottages and the village atmosphere of Battery Point.
