Balmy weather greeted a record crowd of 16,000 people to Myer Carols by the Bay in December at Sandown Park. The biggest crowd in the 62 year history of the event were treated to a spectacular show hosted by Hobart’s own John X and featuring performances by Marina Prior, Rob Mills, Jack Vidgen and Tasmania’s own Imogen Moore and Eloise Martyn. Performers were accompanied by the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Gary Wain.
The event represented a new direction for Myer Carols by the Bay, with the Hobart City Council engaging ExitLeft Productions, along with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and the University of Tasmania to produce a star studded show.
Myer Carols by the Bay is a major fundraising event for Variety the Children’s Charity Tasmania, with all proceeds from candle, program and merchandise sales helping provide much needed support for Tasmanian children with special needs.
Details for the 2012 Myer Carols by the Bay will be available later in the year.
