December 2010 – Free Public Lecture by Professor Jan Gehl on Hobart’s Inner City Development Plan
Professor Gehl visited Hobart in early December 2010 to present his findings Hobart 2010 Public Space and Public Life – ‘a city with people in mind’.
While in Hobart, Professor Gehl gave a free public lecture at the University of Tasmania of Tasmania.
August 2010 Hobart Talks - Free Public Lecture by Mr Lars Gemzoe on Hobart's Inner City Development Plan
Mr Lars Gemzøe is a senior associate partner with Gehl Architects, visited Hobart for a week in late August 2010 to present the Council with some initial findings for Hobart's Inner City Development Plan.
Mr Gemzøe is based in Copenhagen and has more than 30 years experience in teaching and practising architecture and place making across the world.
Professor Jan Gehl and his team visited Hobart in February 2010 to commence research and data collection for the Plan.
Earlier this year, the Hobart City Council appointed Gehl architects to develop an Inner City Development Plan for Hobart. Professor Jan Gehl and his team visited Hobart in February to commence research and data collection for the plan.
This data has now been analysed and Mr Gemzøe spent his time in Hobart working closely with Hobart City Council Aldermen and staff to provide an overview of the findings to date, and to test some of Gehl Architects high-level thinking for the plan.
Whilst in Hobart, Mr Gemzøe gave a free public lecture at the University of Tasmania to around 200 members of the public about how to make people visible in urban planning, sustainable use of public space and access for all.

The plan is expected to be completed by the end of the year and Professor Jan Gehl and his team will return to Hobart in December to present the final document to the Council.
