The format of the indicators is to identify the measure, state the objective the Council is working to achieve and detail the means by which the objective will be measured.
The annual target and actual performance is identified along with a commentary to explain the result achieved and/or to foreshadow actions that may be needed to realign performance with the target.
Where practical a comparison has been made with to external performance indicators, or standards to allow some degree of benchmarking.
The indicators will be updated annually, wit the exception of the customer service measures which are compiled on a biennial basis following community surveys.
