Domestic Kerbside Recycling

All residential properties are supplied with a 240 Litre wheelie bin for recycling, identifiable by its yellow lid, which is also embossed with information on the types of recyclable items able to be placed in the bin. Residents who have difficulty handling the 240 litre whelie bin can request that the bin be replaced with a smalll 140 litre wheelie bin.

The domestic recycling service provides a fortnightly collection of recyclables, on the same day as the weekly refuse collection.

The recycling service enables residents to recycle cardboard and a wider range of plastic containers than was previously allowed.  The following materials are able to be placed into the recycling bin for collection.

If your recycling wheelie bin is lost or missing you may arrange for a new one to be delivered by contacting Council’s Collection Services Officer on 6238 2966.

Please note that collections will not be conducted on Good Friday, or Christmas Day.  Collections for Good Friday will occur on the Thursday before Good Friday, and collections for Christmas Day will occur either the day before or the day after, and will be published in the public notices section of the Mercury closer to the date.  Collections will occur as usual for all other days of the year.

Hobart residents and businesses can also recycle the same materials as collected in the kerbside system by dropping them at the recycling depot at the McRobies Gully Waste Management Centre.  This service provides users with an avenue to dispose of any extra recycling they have, and there is no charge to use the facilities.
