Hobart City Council offers a wheelie bin collection service to the commercial sector. Similar to the service offered to the residential sector each business is entitled to a maximum of one 240 litre bin.
Wheelie bins are collected on a weekly basis and should be placed out the night before collection.
To request delivery of a wheelie bin please gain permission from the property owner and telephone Council's Collection Services Officer on (03) 6238 2966. The Council Officer will take your details, including your choice between a 120 & 240 litre wheelie bin. Please ensure you have adequate storage area on site for the storage of the wheelie bin.
If this domestic level of service is inadequate for your business needs, you will need to contact a private contractor or consider Council's other commercial recycling collection options below. The Hobart City Council offers a kerbside recycling service to commercial operators.
The service is available to businesses, educational institutions and non - profit organisations to assist in increasing the recycling effort within Hobart City.
The service is optional and will only be provided upon request.
The service involves the fortnightly kerbside collection of recyclable materials, (paper, cardboard, food and drink containers and other products as defined by Council) using a 240 Litre Mobile Recycling Bin with a yellow lid. The service will be unsuited to large quantities of cardboard.
The service is NOT a secure service. Any recyclable products of a confidential or sensitive nature should not be placed in bins provided under this recycling service. There are several companies that offer secure paper collection services, which can be found in the Yellow Pages.
Mobile Recycling Bins remain the property of the Hobart City Council and will be provided to service recipients for the duration of the service. Council will replace lost, stolen or damaged bins.
