This pamphlet advises the areas of Hobart where dogs may be exercised off lead, provided they remain under the effective control of the owner at all times. Get your copy from the Council Centre.
* Dogs declared dangerous under the Dog Control Act 2000 remain subject to the relevant conditions defined in the Act even when in a dog exercise area.

Under section 145 of the Local Government Act 1993 dogs are prohibited within one metre of an eating area.
Dogs are prohibited in any grounds of a school, pre-school, kindergarten, creche or any other place of reception of children without the permission of a person in charge.
Please refer to Council's Dog Management Policy 2003 for further banned areas.
Dogs on leads are permitted on the Pipeline Track between Fern Tree and Neika (excluding Silver Falls Track)
Off lead exercise is permitted on Nutgrove Beach & Long Beach Sandy Bay only between the hours of 8pm to 8am - Daylight savings time and 4pm to 8am - Winter time
Please note infringements will be issued to offenders - $100.00.
In Wellington Park dogs can be walked, on a lead, on walking tracks and fire trails in the Recreation Zone of the Park. (Click here to link to the Wellington Park website) Broadly speaking, these areas are the lower foothills of Mount Wellington (below the Springs), and the area immediately above Tolosa Park in Glenorchy. Dogs may be walked on Jeffery's Track in the west of the Park, and are allowed confined in vehicles to the Pinnacle, Mount Wellington.
