Hobart City Council's environmental laboratory, Selfs Point Laboratory, was established in 1996, the laboratory is equipped with modern instrumentation and is capable of performing over fifty different chemical and microbiological analyses. All methodologies are based on Standard Methods including; Australian Standards, American Public Health Association (APHA) Standard Methods and American Society For Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standards.
The laboratory currently holds National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accreditation for microbiological testing, including both membrane filtration and defined substrate technology methodology. The laboratory is continually developing future methods to expand the testing available under the existing accreditation.
Selfs Point Laboratory provides clients with comprehensive reporting of results, competitive pricing, seven working day turnaround times and general guidance on sampling programs and collection techniques. The laboratory provides all sample bottles for sampling and offers convenient parking for sample delivery.
