In late 2005, the Hobart City Council commissioned a study into the practicality of staging the Taste of Tasmania (The Taste) in its existing form in a modified Princes Wharf venue; the relocation of the event to a new location, and if either of these options was not possible, to identify alternative Hobart Summer Festival programming.
A consortium of two Hobart based consultants, Anne Kerr of Red Inca Pty Ltd and Neil Cameron, was engaged to undertake this study.
The resulting report is in two parts: Stage 1, 2 & 3: Events Assessment and Scenario Development; and Stage 4 & 5: Final Events Scenarios and Implementation Strategy.
The Stage 1, 2 & 3 Report provides a detailed analysis of the existing Taste of Tasmania and the Hobart Summer Festival and puts forward a number of future event scenarios.
The Stage 4 & 5 Report, which follows on, outlines two detailed event scenarios for the future of The Taste and Hobart Summer Festival, one which assumes continued use of Princes Wharf Shed No 1 and one event scenario that is located in an alternative site (Franklin Wharf).
The Council endorsed both these reports at its meeting of 26 June 2006.
