The Department of Health and Human Services has advised that infants requiring their 8 week vaccinations are now eligible to receive these vaccines at 6 weeks of age due to the recent prevalence of whooping cough in the community. Hobart City Council clinics are held on the second Wednesday every month between 10am-11.30am in the Elizabeth Street Conference Room. Adults requiring the whooping cough vaccine should consult their own GP. More information about immunisation can be found in the Immunisation and Health section.
The Hobart City Council won the Local Government Award in the 2009 Tasmanian Awards for Environmental Excellence. The Hobart City Council has released its new Climate Change Strategy 'Hobart Climate Change Strategies x 5', resetting the Council's framework for ongoing climate change action. Hobart's Climate Change Strategies x 5 is a strategic platform rather than a prescriptive action plan for climate change. The Hobart City Council, as part of its effort to improve City accessibility through efficient transport systems and transport alternatives to the motor vehicle has designed and documented the next stage of the Argyle and Campbell Street on-road cycling facilities. The design has been informed by detailed investigations, extensive data collection and significant observations.
The Project is being funded through a partnership of the Hobart City Council, the Federal Government Roads to Recovery program and the Tasmanian Government’s Sport and Recreation Department.
Physical works to create the new facility will be undertaken throughout April and May. The works will be undertaken predominately in the evening and at night to minimise disturbance to all road users.
