Recycled organics compost and mulch
The Hobart City Council's McRobies Gully Waste Management Centre has in place an organic waste treatment facility. This facility treats mostly garden waste through composting and mulching. These materials are subsequently sold or used within Council's parks or within the Waste Management Centre itself.
The Organic Waste Operation diverts approximately 10,000m3 of green waste from landfill per annum, along with a range of other organic wastes such as animal waste, fish waste, biosolids and limited amounts of food waste or by-products such as apple pommus.
These valuable resources are shredded, combined and processed to produce mulch, compost and soil conditioners.
Compost and mulch products are available for purchase, in a variety of different quantities, for both domestic and commercial use. Please contact Council's Organic Resource Officer on 0408 396 322 to order your compost and mulch products.
