Public Health Risk Activities include skin penetration practices such as acupuncture, ear/body piercing, and tattooing.
These practices must be undertaken in accordance with the provisions of the Public Health Act 1997 (Part 5, Divisions 3 & 4)
Licensing & Registration
Any person performing skin penetration practices must have a licence to conduct a Public Health Risk Activity. The premises where a Public Health Risk Activity is to be conducted must also be registered.
You will need to make application to licence each operator and register the premises where the public health risk activity is to take place. The application forms can be obtained from the Hobart Council Centre, 16 Elizabeth Street, Hobart. Fees and charges are available in Hobart City Council's Fees and Charges booklet.
Expiry - Licences & Registrations
Expire on the 30 April each year. You will need to renew your licence(s) and registration before this date.
Change of ownership
The new owners or operator of the business must make an application for their own licence and premises registration before commencing to trade.
Cancellation
The Council may cancel your licence/registration, if any terms or conditions of the licence/registration are not complied with.
