The City of Hobart is committed to finding practical and effective ways to address climate change issues and improve energy use throughout the organisation, within the Hobart municipal area and across the southern region. This section provides information about its programs and initiatives that reduce its energy use and emissions; and adapt to climate change hazards and impacts.

The City of Hobart recognises that climate change is a significant global issue that will be experienced at the local scale, requiring local government to assist communities to begin to adapt to climate hazards and risks and reduce their carbon footprints.

The City is committed to finding practical and effective ways to address climate change issues and improve energy use within the Hobart municipal area. It is also working collaboratively with southern Tasmanian councils to share knowledge, leverage action that minimises potential risks and takes advantage of the opportunities that arise out of changes in the climate.
