At its meeting held on 11 August 2011 the Council considered a lighting design prepared by JMG to improve the sportsground lighting at North Hobart Oval. The lighting design is proposing the upgrading of lighting at the Oval to meet the minimum Australian Standards as noted in AS 2560.2.3-2007 for matches.
The development will encompass the demolition of the existing lighting towers and overhead cables and replace with four x 27 metre high light towers.
JMG have produced a planning report, including photo montages, light spill diagrams and site plans that demonstrate the intentions of the development. It is intended that this planning report will be lodged for development approval, should the Council, as landlord, approve the design.
