Support for Community Gardens
Community Gardens have become an increasingly common and welcome feature in many Australian neighbourhoods providing people with fresh food, companionship and a great community resource for over 40 years. Often established on underutilised public land and gardened collectively by individuals from a local neighbourhood, community gardens provide a focal point for many healthy community activities.
In order to support the growing interest in community gardens Hobart Council has developed a set of guidelines to support their establishment on suitable Council owned land. The guidelines provide a systematic application process for the community garden group. Please contact Council's Community Inclusion Projects Officer on 6238 2413 for more details.
