The City of Hobart facilitates a range of community events such as Hobart Kids School Holiday program, Harmony Day in March, Families Week in May and Childrens Week in October.

The City of Hobart also facilitates major Child and Family friendly events including, Hobart Myer Christmas Pageant, City of Hobart Carols and Taste of Tasmania Kids in the Park.

City of Hobart Children & Families Strategy

Extensive community and sector consultation has resulted in the development and implementation of the City of Hobart Children and Families Strategy 2014 - 2019. This guides all of Council’s work with children & families to:

- Connect organisations within the children and families sector in Hobart.
- Support and promote opportunities for parents to connect with each other.
- Support and promote dynamic, vibrant and culturally expressive opportunities for families and children.
- Support children and families access to service's through information provision.
- Increase opportunities for children to live in healthy, happy, safe environments.

The following three (3) key priority areas provide the framework through which the strategy is delivered.
