The City of Hobart Art Prize is open to artists, designers and craftspeople nationwide. It brings together contemporary visual arts, craft and design practice in a single exhibition. For only the second time in its 23 year history all of the major awards in the 2011 City of Hobart Art Prize have been won by Tasmanian artists.

A lucky member of the public has also won the People's Choice Voter's Prize ($100 Gift Voucher from Fullers Bookshop, courtesy of Hobart City Council) and the winner is:
Mr Mick Morton
Congratulations to both winners and thank you to everyone who voted. Winners have been notified directly and were announced in The Mercury, Saturday, 1 October in the Public Notices section.
2011 City of Hobart Art Prize - Winners
Presenting the awards at the launch on Friday 22 July, The Honourable, The Lord Mayor of Hobart, Alderman Rob Valentine said, "The three winning artists live or work in Hobart so we are extremely proud to have artists of this calibre resident in our city and state. With nearly 400 entries the judging task this year was considerable and I commend the judges for their rigour and professionalism."
"The City of Hobart Art Prize is an important national art prize and the Hobart City Council is very proud of its role in initiating and presenting this event over 23 years. The Art Prize continues to present a unique view of Australia's leading art, craft and design practitioners in an annual exhibition. "
