2013 City of Hobart Art Prize



The City of Hobart Art Prize celebrated its 25th year with an exhibition of 34 contemporary artworks from across Australia and a single, unprecedented, cash prize of $30,000 for the winning work. Finalists were selected from a record 490 entries in all collectible media.

The Hobart City Council acknowledged the important contribution made by Mrs Jill Freeman (former Lady Mayoress and Director, Freeman Galleries 1986 - 2006), to the establishment of the Prize by naming this year's Prize in her honour.

The Winner of the City of Hobart Art Prize - People's Choice Prize is Belinda Winkler.

Congratulations to Belinda who receives $1000 courtesy of the City of Hobart and who was also Highly Commended by the Judges (scroll down to see an image of her work, Brink).

The Winner of the People's Choice Voter Prize is Eric Tierney of South Hobart.

Eric wins a $100 State Cinema Bookshop Gift Voucher courtesy of the City of Hobart.

Anthony is a Hobart-based artist, born in Sydney in 1974. He recently completed a Masters degree in Fine Art at the University of Tasmania, School of Art and has exhibited consistently over the past decade. He participated in Primavera 2007 and has received several perstigious awards and residencies including an Australia Council Studio Residency in Los Angeles (2008-09) and the Qantas Foundation Contemporary Art Award (2011).
