The construction industry has gone through a strong period of growth, as demonstrated by the number of development applications.
During the period 1 January 2010 to 31 January 2010, 52 permits were issued to the value of $23,504,400 which included:
- 31 for extensions/alterations to dwellings to the value of $2,317,600;
- 3 new dwellings to the value of $1,030,000; and
- 5 major projects.
During the period 1 January 2009 to 31 January 2009, 47 permits were issued to the value of $13,863,692 which included:
- 31 for extensions/alterations to dwellings to the value of $4,434,900;
- 6 new dwellings to the value of $2,559,198 and;
- 5 major projects.
In the twelve months ending 31 January 2010, 617 permits were issued to the value of $206,001,693.
In the twelve months ending 31 January 2009, 827 permits were issued to the value of $204,965,084.
